Description
Patchouli Essential Oil has a deep earthy aroma with damp wood, dark leaf, balsamic sweetness, dry musk, and long-lasting depth. It does not behave like a light herb oil. Patchouli sits low and stays there, giving formulas weight, shadow, and a recognisable earthy base.
The opening can feel damp and almost dirty before it softens. As the scent develops, the scent becomes sweeter, woodier, and more balsamic, leaving a persistent residue that works well in natural perfumes, soaps, body oils, beard products, incense blends, amber bases, woody accords, and earthy florals.
Patchouli is powerful because it is hard to hide. Used lightly, it gives body and continuity. Used heavily, it can become musty, muddy, heavy, or too obviously patchouli.
Essential oils can be applied topically once diluted with a carrier oil. They are widely used in cosmetic goods and handmade crafts.
